Malaysia-Langkawi
During my summer vacations my family and I visited Malaysia. Our first stop was Langkawi, which is in the Malaysian state of Kedah. When our flight landed in Langkawi, it was 7:30 AM in the Malaysian time zone. We quickly rented a car and drove to the homestay. We were staying in Langkawi for 3 days so we had a lot of time to cover the major landmarks.
On the first day we just explored the place and made plans for the upcoming days. We had dinner in a beautiful restaurant, and had a night beach walk after.
The next day we visited the mangroves on a super fast boat. We stopped for snorkelling, and it was very fun. We saw a lot of fishes and colourful corals. We could feel the school of fishes beneath our feet. My father got hurt by a sea urchin, but it turns out that it was very common, and there was nothing to worry about. During the boat ride we also saw many eagles, flying above our heads. We also stopped at a fish farm and saw big crabs and lobsters swimming about.
That was the boat ride, next we also visited the seven wells waterfall. We had to hike up a hill to see stunning waterfalls. There were seven levels but we could only see three. All three of them had a breath-taking view. My mother had an encounter with a giant lizard that looked almost like a baby alligator.
We also visited the Langkawi Underwater world, known for its beautiful and diverse marine life. We were awestruck by the colourful fishes, miniature lobsters, cute jellyfishes and much more. We even saw a sea snake with spots similar to that of a leopard. There were many types of jellyfishes, including upside down ones, colourful ones, long ones, small ones and many more. We also saw a humongous fish with a funny expression. Next, we also went through a glass tunnel from which we could see penguins swimming above our heads. There was also an exhibit where we could learn bout deep sea fishes, and see shells and skeletons of marine animals.
After eating a lot of sea food we wanted something different, so we visited a big supermarket called 'One Billion Store', where we found unique kinds of mushrooms and mangoes. It was all new and different. We even saw different kinds of raw squid for sale. With the food that we bought, we cooked new things at our homestay.
We also did a boat ride to do island hopping, where we visited different islands and beaches. During the boat ride we also fed the eagles who were flying close by. The boat, again was very fast. It felt we were on a jet ski, except the only different was that our entire family was on the same boat.
Another place we visited was the Langkawi Sky Bridge. We took a ropeway sky cable car and reached a bridge that had a beautiful view of the greenery beneath. It was truly breath-taking. There were a few places where the floor was made of glass, standing on it , it felt like I was on the top of the world.
The Eagle square is another place that we visited. The small park, overlooking the seashore, had a big statue of an eagle. It was big and majestic. We clicked some pictures and enjoyed the beautiful view of the calming sea.
That was all that we did in Langkawi. It was an awesome experience, full of boat rides, new things to see, and scenic beauty!
